Pyrenesia is an acoustic swing quartet founded on the banks of the Delaware River, combining original compositions and singer-songwriter melodies with the Django Reinhardt-inspired tradition of gypsy jazz. They’ve performed at some of the area’s top venues and their album “Off-Beat Symphony” was named one of 2019’s top ten albums by NJ Spotlight. Prolific composers and performers, Pyrenesia released a follow-up EP “On and On” in 2021 and continues to deliver foot-stomping, dress-swirling, hand-clapping experiences to lift spirits and transport listeners to a musical landscape as vast as the Pyrenees mountains are high. From https://www.honeybadgerfolk.com/bio The Honey Badgers’ folk/Americana sound has been likened to that of The Civil Wars and The Swell Season. They are known for their intense, unique harmonies, their sincere lyrics and melodies, and their undeniable onstage chemistry. Weaving their voices together over driving guitar, wistful violin, and punchy harmonica, The Honey Badgers create a sound that is all at once heartfelt, reflective, eager, and full of laid-back fun.

The Honey Badgers have been creating music together since the summer of 2011. In their first several years working together they released their debut EP, “Booth Bay”, a thoughtfully crafted second EP, “Soul”, as well as a collection of live recordings entitled “Mad Season”. In the years following the duo’s conception, they played all over their home state of Delaware and the surrounding area, from the Delmarva Folk Festival in Hartly to the World Cafe Live at the Queen in Wilmington. They opened for nationally touring act The Lone Bellow, as well as local Delaware favorite New Sweden.

Opening the concert will be The Dust-ups, an original four-piece alt.country/Americana band from north/central New Jersey. Influenced by alt.country pioneers such as Old 97’s and Whiskeytown and country legends like Johnny Cash, their sound blends a down-home country sound with punk rock energy.

While they all call New Jersey home today, The Dust-Ups’ origins span from New Orleans (lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Ryan Chatelain) to Quebec (bassist Stephen Swalsky). Aside from their collection of mostly lively, catchy songs, perhaps the most intriguing aspect of their live show is watching multi-instrumentalist Joe Palmisano shift back and forth from lead guitar to pedal steel to mandolin, ensuring the band’s sound never gets stale. The Dust-Ups also include drummer Alek Speck, who toured the world with the indie rock band Run Run Run.

Rupert Wates' music is an eclectic mix of acoustic, melodic art/folk, with flavors of jazz, vaudeville and cabaret. He has released twelve solo CDs which have received outstanding reviews in the international online press and tracks from them have been played on radio all over the world. In addition, Wates' songs have been covered by other artists in the UK, Canada and the US. Two full length tribute CDs to his material have been recorded: 'Crazy Puzzle' (2015) by Nashville-based performer Roxie Rogers, and 'Wide Open Heart' (July 2017) by Los Angeles vocalist Susan Kohler. Both these CDs were initiated and funded entirely by the artists themselves, and comprise exclusively songs taken from Rupert Wates' back catalog. Over 20 recordings featuring Wates's songs by other artists were made in 2016, and more are scheduled for 2017 (full list at www.rupertwatesmusic.com/covers). Despite Wates' British background, and underpinning the universality of his music's appeal, Folk And Acoustic Music Exchange has called him "a prime figure in American music'' (www.acousticmusic.com) and goes on: "This is one gifted sonofabitch... If you're not hip to this guy yet you're missing out." Audiences everywhere respond to Wates' brand of melodic art/folk—haunting songs that ring true.

Opening the concert will be Mike Herz! With an uncanny ability to turn a phrase and deliver lyrics that rattle around in your head, Mike writes and performs in a style that is all his own. He performs solo and also fronts the indie rock band Part-Time Custodian. On April7th, 2023 Mike released his latest full length album titled "Painting Over Paintings".
